Fuel Surcharge

No doubt you have seen a multitude of articles and bulletins that have chronicled the upward spiralling costs of energy and fossil fuels this past year. Further complicating these events have been the three devastating hurricanes of Katrina, Rita and Wilma in the southern United States and the disruption they have caused on essential chemical production. As a result, freight costs and in particular fuel surcharges have surged in the past twelve months to unprecedented highs, in most cases 25%. Roofing distribution freight costs track about 5% of sales and thus even a 20% fuel surcharge is a 1% increase in freight costs.

Everest Supply has done its best to absorb all of these costs but we are now at a point where this is no longer possible. Thus, effective January 2, 2006 we will be introducing a temporary 1% Fuel Surcharge on all project deliveries. We anticipate that this temporary fuel surcharge will remain in place through the first quarter of 2006 and possibly until the demand for heating energy diminishes into the spring of 2006. This temporary Fuel Surcharge will appear in the bottom right corner of our invoice and will calculate on the pre-tax amount.

We thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation in this matter. Do not hesitate to contact the undersigned or your Everest Accounts Manager should you have any questions.
